Ecological Consultants for the Public InterestEcological Consultants for the Public Interest (ECPI) is a national, non-profit, foundation-supported consulting firm formed to provide citizens with professional services to help them understand, address and remediate environmental problems. ECPI offers a unique public interest service to citizen, community and environmental groups on toxics and other environmental matters. As a public interest consulting firm, ECPI provides an alternative to the for-profit consulting firms that have been exclusively utilized by companies engaged in environmental matters. ECPI provides teams made up of lawyers, engineers, scientists, private investigators, and other professionals, all of whom possess public interest experience and/or vision, and many of whom have been seeking a vehicle through which to provide positive service to the environment. ECPI's ExpertiseEPCI does not have these experts "on staff," but has developed an expanding network of professionals in myriad fields from across the country who are willing to be part of a campaign strategy on a "at time of need" basis. For instance, for its first project proposal, involving the clean-up of a contaminated site in California, ECPI developed a team that included Dr. Richard Clapp, a professor at Boston University in epidemiology and the previous director of the Massachusetts Cancer Registry; Pat Costner, senior scientist at Greenpeace U.S.A.; and a firm of engineers and hydrologists in Minneapolis. Our "expertise" is finding these professionals, interviewing them to assure the quality personnel we promise to our clients, and putting them together with other experts to define and execute a strategy they jointly determinebased on the law and facts of the case. These are not just volunteers; they are committed professionals dedicated to the outcome they have developed together. Ecological Consultants for the Public Interest |
